While previous articles have been current new events taking place in America, as can be recognized in its name, global warming is a global concern. An article posted by CNN a couple of days ago talked about the UK government opening up to the adding of wind warms in the nation. Solar power tends to be much more expensive, which is why the UK has made this decision, and as a result they have found that they are able to celebrate a new energy source that is the cheapest ever. Scottish governments have claimed to be adding both wind and solar farms to on the same site in order to maximize outputs of energy. The UK has wanted to have locals have a say in the adding of these farms, and unfortunately the protestors seemed to have the greatest impact. Recently however, in general, these changes have received large amounts of public support, despite some of the complaints of visual and audible impact on the country sides.
Regardless of some hesitancy to change, which is always expected, it is encouraging to know the positive opinions towards the change towards wind energy in the UK. Even these hesitancies will likely dissipate over time, especially once the consumers realize that in the long term, they will receive cheaper electricity–even people who do not care about sustainable impact care about how much money they spend. It is respectable that the government wants to make the people happy, but there has to come a point when they take action. It does not make sense to not to anything because someone is always going to be unhappy. Based on this article, it seems like the adding of wind farms are honestly short on negatives, and the sooner they are implemented to work, the fasted the consumer and the general public will be able to get something out of them.
As I see it, it is definitely an encouraging thing to see other countries making big steps, supported by the government, to help stop climate change, as opposed to having the small individual feel like they have to solve the problem. Reality is, yes, there are little things we can change every day to do our part, but the big companies and the government have to most power to make real changes. I would like to see more countries, including my own country, try to make some of these steps towards sustainability. I think it seems a bit ridiculous to get so upset over the “aesthetic issue” of switching towards electricity farming, because climate changes is destroying our aesthetics anyway by fires and droughts and floods. Not to mention, the cheaper energy we would be provided with. It would be a short term time and money investment for long term help to the environment and to ourselves.
